Michael Joseph McGrath, 82 of Youngstown passed away on April 30, 2021 at Hospice of the
Valley Hospice House. Michael was born in Pittsburgh on February 26, 1939 the son of the late
Joseph and Anna (Cannon) McGrath.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and Clarkson College of Technology where he earned
a degree as a mechanical engineer. Michael worked at Eljer in Salem, OH and then retired
from Grede Foundries of Wichita, KA. Michael enjoyed fishing and cooking as a younger
man, spending time with his dog Biscuit, traveling the town visiting friends, supporting local
businesses, and in his last several years, was a fervent supporter of Donald J. Trump.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne “Penny” (Anderson) McGrath; his beloved brother, Charles McGrath; as well as his mother, Anna; and his father, Joseph.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl McGrath, Lisa Kekel, Michael (Karry) McGrath, Joe
McGrath, and Sean (Tara) McGrath. He is also survived by his stepson, Scott (Shirley)
Anderson; his brother, Thomas (Sandy) McGrath; his sister, JoAnn (Robert) Royer; and his first
wife, Pauline McGrath. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, and a few great-
grandchildren.
There will be no funeral service held at this time. Michael has entrusted his burial intentions
with Davis-Becker funeral home in Boardman, Ohio. Michael will be laid to rest at Hope
Cemetery in Salem.
