North Lima - William James Sylvis, 87, of North Lima, formerly of Pine Hollow, died Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2012 at Assumption Village.
William, affectionately known as Jimmie, was born April 2, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of William and Ethel Rees Sylvis and was a life-long resident of Youngstown.
Jimmie lived his entire life in the neighborhood of Youngstown Fire Station #9 and spent his days visiting with the crew. He was a great buddy to all the firemen at Station #9 and felt privileged to be their Honorary Fireman.
Jimmie was survived by his brother-in-law, Russell Wire of Poland; two nephews, Jerry Wire of Youngstown and Dale (Julie) Wire of Columbus; one niece, Janet (Clay) Newman of Hartville; four great nieces, Rachel, Debra, Hannah, and Katie; and one great-nephew, Chris.
Besides his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his sister, Elinor Wire.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 6:00 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Pastor Michael Zabel officiating.
Friends will be received Monday from 4:00 PM until 5:45 PM at the funeral home.
