William ³Pappy² C. Stitzel Sr., 87
BOARDMAN Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home for ³Pappy² William C. Stitzel Sr., 87. He passed away Wednesday evening at his home.
Mr. Stitzel was born July 10, 1925, in Pittsburgh, a son of Harry R. and Isabelle Mabel Hernan Stitzel.
He was employed at United Excavating as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 66.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
His wife, the former Jennie E. Baumgartner, whom he married Dec. 12, 1946, died Feb. 15, 2001.
Surviving him are two sons, William (Marge) Stitzel Jr. of Youngstown and Carl Stitzel Sr. of Miami; a daughter Darlene Stitzel of Boardman; 13 grandchildren, Carl (Jamie) Stitzel II, Kathleen (Joe) Haynes, Charles Beck, Jamie Stitzel, Jennifer Stitzel, Keith (Stacy) Stitzel, Jerry (Caroline) Latronica, and Lisa (Brian) Havlin; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents, was a sister, Pat Stayer; and two grandchildren, William and Karen Stitzel.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.,
both at the funeral home at their new location, 8536 Market St. in Boardman.
