William Woollcott Stanier, 69 Youngstown- William W. Stanier, 69, died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mr. Stanier was born December 26, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of John and Elizabeth Woollcott Stanier. He attended The Rayen School and graduated from Mercersburg Academy in 1953 and from Lehigh University in 1957. Mr. Stanier was a salesman for the steel industry, beginning his career with the Youngstown Sheet & Tube. He received a number of assignments in the Midwest before returning in the middle of his career to Youngstown. He retired in 2001 after 42 years. He was a member of the St. ALban's No. 677 F. & A.M. and a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite and the Youngstown Country Club. Mr. Stanier was a member of St. John Episcopal Church and a member of the Vestry. His wife the former Samantha Todd whom he married May 3, 1958 died August 28, 1998. He leaves one daughter, Tracy McCarty of Youngstown; three sons, Stewart Todd Stanier of Atlanta, Georgia, John Woollcott Stanier of Asheville, North Carolina and Charles Oliver Stanier of Iowa City, Iowa; one sister, Mary Oliver Maloney of Cleveland; one brother John Stewart Stanier of Lake Lure, North Carolina and nine grandchildren. Mr. Stanierâa�a��s family will hold a memorial service in his name, Friday, 12:15 PM at St. John Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. John Episcopal Church, Sunday Soup Kitchen, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
