Canfield - William Joseph Siersdorfer, 83, of Canfield, died Wednesday morning, July 29, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after a long respiratory illness.
Bill was born August 28, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of Fred and Amy Kern Siersdorfer.
He was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. During his senior year in high school, he was drafted in the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in World War II.
Bill was a master plumber and pipefitter, retiring after more than 35 years in the trade. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 396 and the Western Reserve United Methodist Church.
He leaves his three daughters, Jayne Siersdorfer of Doylestown, Joyce Siersdorfer of Canfield, and Jeanne Siersdorfer of Worthington; a son, Brad (Lenora) Siersdorfer of Lithicum, MD; two brothers, Fred (Marianne) Siersdorfer Jr. of Pittsburgh and John "Jack" (Verna) Siersdorfer of Boardman; three grandchildren, Melissa (Brian) Dunlay, Renee (Michael) Parsons and Scott Farol; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Natalie Dunlay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Phyllis R. Martin, whom he married September 5, 1948, his parents, and his son, William Scott Siersdorfer.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Western Reserve United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Rd., Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
