A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Sept. 8th at 10:30 am at St. Charles Church with Father Philip Rogers officiating for William "Bill" Scheetz who passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday September 4th after a brave battle with cancer.
Bill was born on Nov. 30th 1947 in Youngstown, a son of William and Irene (Kane) Scheetz. He was a life- long resident of Boardman and attended St. Charles School, where he was an altar server, and he then went on to Cardinal Mooney High School and Youngstown State university.
Bill served in the United States Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and worked in the Line Department of Ohio Edison until he retired.
Bill is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Marilyn Canavan Scheetz, his brother Jerry Scheetz of White Fish, Montana, his sisters Patricia (Don) Divito and Monica McKee of Boardman, Peggy (Rusty) Hutch of Youngstown, Joanie (Scott) Johnson of Bend, Oregon, and Maureen Scheetz of Seattle, Washington , his mother in law, Dee Canavan, and sisters in law, Sally Canavan (Chuck Johnson), Carol (Dave) McKay all of Boardman, Nancy (Stephen) Solak of Ft. Myers, Florida and his brothers in law, Jack (Debbie) Canavan of Cortland and Patrick (Patty) Canavan of Boardman and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his two brothers Edward Scheetz and Michael Scheetz, his father in law, Jack Canavan and brother in law George Canavan.
Everyone in the family, as well as his special friends, admired and loved Bill. He was a good hearted friendly man, always with a kind word about everybody and always ready to help in any way he could. He will be truly missed.
Calling hours will be from 4:00-7:00p.m. on Friday at Davis-Becker Funeral home and from 10-10:30am Saturday at St. Charles Church.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
