Lowellville-William J. Sarich, 87, passed away on March 21, 2015 at Masternick Health Care Center from a long illness.
He was born on June 21, 1927 to Eli and Frances Kuharich Sarich in Lowellville.
He was a 1944 graduate of Lowellville High School and attended one year of night classes at Youngstown College.
Bill worked at U.S. Steel Ohio Works for 35 years and was a pipefitter for 25 of those years, before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of C.F.U. Lodge 66 and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
Bill was an excellent handyman and loved working outdoors. He took great pride in maintaining his home and beautiful lawn. Prior to his illness he was an avid reader, and also loved hiking, bicycling, and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife, the former Frances Banek, whom he married Nov. 11, 1950; a son, Bill Jr.(JoAnn) of Poland; three grandchildren, Tara (Sal) D'Agostino of Florham Park, NJ, Christopher (Holly) Sarich of Cranberry Twp., PA, and Jessica Sarich (Todd) of Liberty Twp.; two great-grandchildren, Salvatore and Ava D'Agostino; two step-granddaughters, Tara (John) Hager and Lauren (Gary) Boris; and a step-great-grandson, Jack Hager. Also surviving is his sister, Mary Pavlakovic.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Wegner.
A prayer service will be held Friday at 10:30AM at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received Thursday from 5-7PM at the funeral home.
