Boardman - William R. Payne, 83, of Boardman, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Payne was born March 13, 1926 in Youngstown, the son of James and Ellen Anderson Payne, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of South High School and worked for McKelvey's and Higbee's Department Stores delivering furniture until their closing.
Mr. Payne was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church and a previous member of the former John Calvin/St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Mr. Payne was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II.
He leaves his wife, the former Wanda Chwiej, whom he married June 8, 1951; his son, Robert Payne and his wife, Genevieve, of Youngstown; two sisters, Florence Trickett of Boardman and Gladys Aaron and her husband, Arthur, of Poland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Fisher.
Services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd, with the Rev. Bruce Ballantine officiating. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Payne's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
