Poland - William H. "Nick" Nichols, 86, died July 18, 2015 in Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House. He was born April 24, 1929 in Youngstown, son of the late William and Marjorie Watwood Nichols.
He was a 1949 graduate of Boardman High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He proudly served in the United States Navy, was a member of VFW Post #3538 and Poland Presbyterian Church. Nick was a former member of FOE Aerie #213 and the Management Association.
He retired from LTV Steel and following retirement was employed by Mahoning National Bank and Sky Bank and was a marshall and starter at Bedford Trails Golf Course.
He is survived by his sister, JoAnn (Ted) Carissimi of Boardman; his brother, James (Irene) Nichols of Boardman; half-brother, Dennis Yeckel of Youngstown; two step-daughters, Patricia (Tim) Ludt of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Kathleen Hennon of Struthers; grandchildren, Tammy (Mark) Zelenak of Poland, Timothy Ludt of Florida, Thomas Ludt of California and Ted Ludt of California, Justine and Jared Hennon of Struthers; great grandchildren, Justin Wagner, Jordan Wagner and Katelyn, Ryan, Bailey and Nicole Ludt; and great great granddaughter Nora Wagner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Nichols on May 11, 2002.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26 at 4pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland with the Rev. Brent J. Eelman officiating.
Friends will be received prior to the service from 2pm-3:45pm at the funeral home.
