Austintown-William E. Namie, 92, passed away on June 14, 2024, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown. 

Born on May 20, 1932, in Lowellville, OH, William was the son of Elmer and Margaret Smith Namie. He attended Lowellville High School and upon graduation in 1950, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, Bill returned to the Mahoning Valley and worked at Sharon Steel as a crane operator before transitioning to become a skilled lather, specializing in building structural frameworks for plaster and other materials. Eventually, he retired as a carpenter affiliated with the Carpenters Local 171.

On October 16, 1954, William married the former Carol Louise Davis, whom he met at a friend's wedding. The couple resided on Idora Avenue in Youngstown until relocating to Berlin Center in 1975. Their union was blessed with six children and they celebrated 65 years of marriage until Carol's passing on December 5, 2019.

In his leisure time, Bill found joy in attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and watching his favorite sports on television.

Bill is survived by five sons, William R. Namie of LaVergne, TN, Richard J. (Amy) Namie of Mentor, John D. (Jeffrey) Namie of Chicago, David E. Namie of Nashville, TN, and Gary L. (Nikki) Namie of Berlin Center; nieces, Kim Turner of Salem and Kris Black of McDonald; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Namie; and sister, Barbara Black.

A private graveside service with military honors was held for the family at Lake Park Cemetery. 

Memorial donations can be made in Mr. Namie's name to the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511.
