Youngstown - William Edward Musselman , 91, of Youngstown, formerly of Boardman, died August 12, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Poland, February 15, 1921, a son of Paul and Mary Cripe Musselman.
William was a Poland Seminary High School graduate and received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. He joined the United States Army Air Corp. serving during WWII.
He started working in research at Goodyear, where he helped develop the rubber compound for their first snow tire. He then came to Youngstown to work for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube in research and development. William finished his career at the office of Spencer, Musselman and Rossi for Equitable Life Assurance.
He was a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church, the Youngstown Country Club, and the Cambium Club.
His wife, of 61 years, Betty M. Musselman, whom he married October 25, 1947, died January 19, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Smith (Dr. Andrew Larner) of Charlottesville, VA; a son, Dr. Paul Musselman of Warren (Dr. Jean Cairns); eight grandchildren, Richard Smith, Aaron Larner, Elizabeth Larner, Abigail Larner, Amy Musselman, Andrew Musselman, Peter Musselman, and Mallory Musselman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
