Brandon - William James Moorhouse, 79, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Tampa General Hospital.
Mr. Moorhouse was born September 10, 1939 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late Ralph V. and Marian Modarelli Moorhouse.
Raised in Youngstown, William was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1957. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1961 from Cornell University, Ithaca NY. He enlisted in the United States Navy in February of 1962 and graduated from Officer Candidate School later that year. After being honorably discharged in 1965 William served in the Naval Reserves until January of 1968 and earned a Master's Degree at Cornell University. After returning to Poland he worked for General Motors in Warren, OH, leaving the area in 1975 to pursue a banking career at First Citizens Bank & Trust as a Trust Officer in Raleigh and Fayetteville, NC. In 1977 he moved to Norfolk, VA where worked for Bank of Virginia as a Trust Officer and then Central Fidelity Bank as Vice President and Regional Trust Manager. William retired from banking 1984.
He was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown and was active in Rotary, was an AARP Tax Aide volunteer and enjoyed sailing, reading and traveling.
His wife, the former Nancy Bryan Hutt, whom he married in June, 1960, died in August, 1977. He leaves two daughters, Nancy MacKenzi Moorhouse of Chesapeake, VA (Mike Fries) and JoAnne Arete Zaharis (Richard Chambers) of Beverly, MA. He leaves two grandsons, Brandon Hewitt and Elias Chambers.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, OH with Pastor Paul Burgeson officiating.
