Boardman- William Clyde Mitchell, 77, died Friday evening, April 7, 2017, at his residence with his family at his side.
William "Bill" was born January 25, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late William Wilson and Helen Rachel Moore Mitchell.
Raised in Youngstown, Bill was a graduate of South High School and attended A.T.E.S. Technical School training in refrigeration and TV repair. For over 20 years he was a buyer for G.M. McKelvey's and later Higbees where he mentored Junior Achievement students on merchandising. Bill was an all around home repairman and after Higbees closed he did refrigeration and TV repair work until starting his own business "Windows Only" a window painting and glazing company.
Bill was an avid bowler serving on several leagues including the Sunday Knights and Lassies Bowling League, with his wife, at Camelot Lanes. He enjoyed country music, fishing and gardening in his flower beds. Bill's true passion was dancing. He and his wife took lessons from Arthur Murray Dance Studio and LOVED Disco dancing especially at the V.I.P. and Down Under.
Bill was always a very positive, cheerful and caring person. Over the years he generously gave his time taking care of people and was the caregiver for his wife's mother, aunt and uncle when they were ill.
He leaves his wife, Rosanne Mahinis Mitchell whom he married May 9, 1958; one daughter, Mariann Wilfong of Lowellville; one sister, Dixie Martinez of Florida; one brother, Leslie Mitchell of MA; two grandchildren, Christopher Wilfong and Jennifer Sutak; and one great-grandson, Noah Wilfong.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chip Wilfong; and his sister Donna Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Daniel Tayman officiating.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
