Poland- William Lee Miller, Jr., 59, of Poland, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 12, 2009 after passing peacefully at his residence. "Bill" was born December 11, 1949 in Bad Woerishofen, Germany, a son of Sgt. William Lee and Zazilia (Schuster) Miller, Sr. He was a 1968 graduate of South High School and worked for General Fireproofing as a spray painter. On September 17, 1969, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and the 101st Airborne, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged June 15, 1973 and was then active in the Army Reserves. While enlisted, he received the Expert Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, the Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars with Valor, one Service Stripe, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Bill was an active member of the American Legion Post No. 15, where he was past Commander. He leaves his wife, the former Diane Rusu, whom he married February 15, 1975; his mother, Zazilia Keyes of Youngstown; two sons, William Lee Miller, III of Boardman and Jeffrey Alan Miller of New Castle; daughter, Desiray Devellin-Miller, at home; three grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, and Benjamin Miller; two sisters, Denise Capuzello of Campbell and Shirley Korda-Miller of Youngstown; two brothers, Robert Miller of Marysville and John W. Keyes, Jr. of Youngstown; and a host of family, friends, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Tina Marie Keyes; and his stepfather, John W. Keyes, Sr. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with military honors to follow. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
