William Anthony Meier, 77
VILLA MARIA, PA. - William Anthony Meier, 77, of Villa Maria, Pa., passed away Wednesday evening, March 19, 2014, at the Hospice House in Poland.
Mr. Meier was born July 26, 1936, in Columbus, a son of Girard A. and Mary Catherine Mattingly Meier. He was a graduate of St. Vincent DePaul High School in Mt. Vernon and worked as a Quality Control Supervisor for General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
A United States Navy veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1960. He was a member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club (Life member), National Wild Turkey Federation (Life member), North American Hunting Club, and was an O.D.N.R. Hunter Safety Instructor for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Marilu Farenbaugh, whom he married August 31, 1957, in Mt. Vernon; his children, Gregory Meier of Canfield, Jodi Razo of Leetonia, and Christopher Meier of Atlanta; two sisters, Alice (Buford) Latham of Mt. Vernon, and Rosie Clements of Tacoma, Wash.; brother, James Meier of San Diego, Calif.; and two granddaughters, Taylor Meier of Canfield and Caroline Meier of Atlanta.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Ellen Manley; and three brothers, Richard, Bernard, and Francis Meier.
Bill's wishes were to not have calling hours or services, but he asked for friends to remember him by visiting a favorite location and offering a prayer.
