William L. Evans Struthers- William L. Evans, 83, of Clingan Road, died Saturday evening at the Hospice House in Poland. Mr. Evans was born October 14, 1924 in Struthers, a son of Brinley and Martha Rees Evans. He was a life-long resident of Struthers. He was a 1942 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown State University. Mr. Evans was a United States Navy Veteran, serving in the Submarine Service in World War II from 1943 until 1946. Mr. Evans was a field Engineer for UNISYS Corp. formerly Burroughs Corp. for 38 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of U.S. Submarine Veterans WWII, the Sennet Reunion Group, and a charter member of the United States World War II Memorial Society. He leaves his wife the former Jean Bolash, whom he married February 28, 1948; four daughters, Gwyneth (John) Basista of Poland, Dr. Lynne (Dr. David) Cola of Akron, Megan (Brian) Martin of Youngstown, and Kristine (Atty. Anthony) Siciliano of New Middletown; and eleven grandchildren, Douglas, Kate, and Matthew Basista, Kristen, Heather, and Bonnie Cola, Cindy and Jeffrey Martin, Vincent, Nicole, and Anthony Siciliano. Besides his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Evans Spencer. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Rev. John Keehner officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
