Poland - William A. Jenkins Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2014 at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center.
Mr. Jenkins was born November 13, 1928 in Youngstown, son of Arthur and Zerula (Carlon) Jenkins.
William was a 1947 graduate of Struthers High School. He later attended classes and Youngstown State and graduated from Ohio Peace Officers Training.
He worked at Republic Steel, retiring as Sgt. in security. He was a Reserve Deputy at Mahoning County Sheriff's Department, serving under Sheriff's Langley, Davis,Yarosh, Tabalak, Traficant, Nemeth, Chance, and Wellington, where he retired in 2012. Bill worked for 28 years at the Canfield Fair in security at Gate 7.
He loved his family and church, was a member of Bridge of Hope, formerly Calvary Assembly, where he served as a deacon and usher there for many years. Bill was a member of the Cops for Christ. He loved to travel in his motor home to Texas and Florida in the Winter and camping at Pymatuning Lake, and Family Church Camp at Big Prairie in the Summer.
He is survived by his wife, the former, Jacqulyn Jones, whom he married in 1948; one son, William(Carla) Jenkins Jr. of Struthers; three daughters, June (James) Hardwick of Andover; Rebecca (Donald) Orin of Sugar Land, TX, and Tami Walsh of Boardman; grandchildren, Scott (Anna) Chapel, Matthew (Karen) Chapel,and Skye (Gary) Edmonds, Joshua and Jacob Orin, Katherine Jenkins, Abigail, Brennan, and Isabella Walsh; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden Chapel, Jack Chapel, Liam Dunmire, and Isaiah Hardwick.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00PM at Bridge of Hope Church ,with Pastor Albert Arquilla and Pastor Lori Valenzisi officiating.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday from 10:00AM-11:45AM at the church.
