William Hancock

Boardman - William H Hancock, 73, of Boardman, died October 13, 2013 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.

William was born October 18, 1939 in Clarksburg, PA, son of William and Geneieve Proper Hancock. He was raised in Clarksburg and came to the Youngstown area in 1962.

For 27 years William worked for City Ash which later became BFI. He also worked on a dairy farm and at one time was a steelworker. He and his wife Elaine were foster parents.


Besides his wife of 54 years, the former Elaine Jamison, whom he married March 28, 1959, William leaves two daughters, Karen Hancock and Alicia Lowery both of Boardman; one son, John (Karen) Hancock of East Palestine; one sister, Anna Marie (Ron) Little of Indiana, PA; one half-brother, Rich Hancock of Ford City, PA; four grandchildren, Brandon, Shelby, and Dalton Hancock, and William Lowery; and four great-grandchildren; Addyson and Aiden Hancock, and Bella and Ruth Ann Willis.

Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Norman Hancock.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 PM at Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman with Pastor Mark Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the funeral home.
