William J. Grover, 87 Poland- William J. Grover, 87, of 9677 N. Lima Rd. died Monday morning at Beeghly Oaks. He was born in Akron, OH on November 17, 1916, a son of William Grover and Olga Barnes Grover. He moved to Youngstown in 1922 and later moved to Poland in 1959. Mr. Grover attended Bancroft, Taft, Jackson, Buckeye, and Woodrow Wilson. He graduated from South High School in 1937. In 1952 he graduated from Youngstown College. He did his post graduate work at Columbia University in New York in 1962. Mr. Grover was one of four brothers who served in WWII. He served in the infantry in the European Theater of Operations. He also led a rifle platoon. He was wounded twice in action and received the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and the bronze star medals. He was a 32nd degree Mason and attended the Hillman Lodge since 1952. His wife of 55 years, the former, Constance E. Cline, whom he married March 5, 1946, died March 13, 2001. He leaves his son, W. David (Dorothy) Grover of Struthers; one brother, John Grover of Salt Lake City; and three grandchildren, Amy, Anna, and Will Grover of Struthers. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Grover and Haven Grover, who was a U.S. Marine, died in action at Guadalcanal on September 14, 1942. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. His wife, Constance, and brother, Haven Grover are buried there. There will be no services held at the funeral home.
