Youngstown - William D. Graebing, 92 of Youngstown, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
He was born June 22, 1918 in Lisbon a son of George and Eva Deemer Graebing.
Mr. Graebing was a graduate of the David Anderson High School in Lisbon, and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business. Mr. Graebing served in the U.S. Army in the Southwest Pacific from 1942 to 1946, where he had received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Philippines Liberation Service Medal and the Victory Medal. He was in the first Office Candidate School in Australia, and served in the 209th AA SP Battalion. Upon his return home from the Army, he worked for Tomlinson of High Point, North Carolina, Kenman of East Palestine. He also owned Graebing Parking, and also the Town Diner. He was a member of the Churchill United Methodist Church, a former member of the Youngstown Rotary Club, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives. He also volunteered as a STAR member at Harding School.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Jane Maloney whom he married June 12, 1954, a daughter, Katrina Waschak; four grandchildren, William C. Graebing, Georgeanne Graebing, Elizabeth Waschak, Rebecca Waschak, and close family members Barbara Sferra and Amy Sainato.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George A. Graebing, two sisters, Genevieve Sexton Mason and, Eleanor Alderman, and a brother, George Graebing.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland
