William F. Engelhardt

Struthers - William F. Engelhardt, 85, of Struthers, died Monday morning, August 10, 2015 at Caprice Healthcare.

Mr. Engelhardt, affectionately known as "Bill," was born November 24, 1929 in Struthers, the only son of the late August and Pearl Staff Engelhardt.

A life-long resident of Struthers, Bill was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1948. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and then in 1949 joined the United States Air Force where he served until 1955.

Bill worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube and several other positions in the area before settling at the former William B. Pollock Company where he retired December 1, 1984.

A life-long member of the former Struthers Presbyterian Church, Bill was active in many capacities of the church and served as a Deacon and Elder. When the Struthers Presbyterian Church became the Parkside Church, Bill remained a loyal member, attending every Sunday.

Bill was a Boy Scout and on July 8, 1946 was proud to have achieved the highest Rank as Eagle Scout. He was very talented in wood working and enjoyed the outdoors. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their cottage at Guilford Lake.

His wife of 57 years, the former Ruth Stephenson, whom he married October 13, 1951, died November 18, 2008. He leaves two daughters, Pamela (Michael) Mitchell of Fuquay Varina, NC and Tracy (Al) Mason of Poland; and four grandchildren, Allison and Christa Mitchell, and Chad and Kyle Mason.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, with Pastor James Berkebile officiating.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
