William T. Davis, 86

Memorial services will be held Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home for William Thomas Davis, 86 formerly of Boardman. He passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Concord, NC.
Mr. Davis was born in Weirton, West Virginia, April 30, 1925 a son of William John and Genevieve Shafer Davis. He is a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the battleship U.S.S. Hopson. He went to gunnery school at Great Lakes out of basic training, after that he went to Washington D.C. to Electric Hydraulics School. He participated in the invasion of Normandy. After the Atlantic Theatre, his ship was put into port to be turned into a mine sweep, he then went to the Pacific Front.
Upon returning from the War he went to Youngstown College to get a degree in Business. He was the Manager of Motors Insurance Company an insurance division of General Motors Incorporation, retiring in 1980. After he retired, he became a partner in Frame Village. Later, he went into business selling roofing supplies, until his son-in-law, Bill McLoskey, came into the business and they expanded the business into applying the roofing products themselves.
Bill was a former member of Boardman United Methodist Church and a current member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Naples, Florida and the American Legion, Post # 6400 in Estero, Florida. He also had enjoyed wintering in Estero, and summering in Newland, North Carolina with his current wife Joan.
Surviving him are his wife, Joan K. Davis whom he married Oct. 23, 1997, his three daughters, Carolyn Nordgren, Janice (Bill) McLoskey and Sheri (Richard) Blomstrom all of Boardman. His grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Ditz, Heather (Jay) Moyers, William McLoskey, Robert McLoskey, Allison Saxon, Jennie Blomstrom and Shawn Blomstrom. And ten great grandchildren. Also, Joan's children, Katherine (Tom) Domke, Johanna Kincaid, Elizabeth (Richard) Wolfe. And her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matthew) Whisenant, James (Katherine) Monroe, Rebecca (Nathan) Sale, Sam Newman and a great grandchild.
Preceding him in death besides his parents are his first wife, Louise Evans Davis whom he married July 19, 1945 died Dec. 31, 1995, and a step daughter Heidi Kuchenbecker.
Friends may call Saturday from 11:00am- 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
