Struthers - William T. Caplinger, 69, formerly of Center, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with his family by his side.
William, known by his family and friends as "Bill," was born December 5, 1954 in Monaca, PA, a son of the late Kenneth and Beatrice (Howells) Caplinger.
He was a custodian for 22 years. He worked most recently for Kellermeyer Bergensons Services (KBS,) before retiring.
Bill was affiliated with the Church of the Living Christ in Beaver, PA.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing billiards, was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, loved listening to rock music, and watching comedy and Bruce Lee movies.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to everyone. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his life partner, Beverly A. Crowl, with whom he made his home in Struthers; three daughters, Heather L. (James) Cruce of Baden, PA, Rebecca M. Caplinger of Beaver Falls, PA and Jennifer L. Thomas of New Brighton, PA; a son, Joseph E. (Victory Mason fiancée) Thomas of Beaver Falls, PA; four stepdaughters, Denise M. McManigal of Struthers, OH, Michele L. (Mark) Samsa of Poland, OH, Cindy J. Crowl of La Jolla, CA, and Julie A. (William) Jones of East Liverpool, OH, a stepson, Derek J. (Dana) Crowl of Columbiana, OH; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth (Sherry) Caplinger of Monaca, PA, Jeffrey (Sylvia) Caplinger of Meadville, PA, and Timothy Caplinger of New Brighton, PA; a sister, Lori (Bob) Caplinger of Sebastian, FL; and his four-legged friend, Gypsy.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Caplinger; a sister, Sherry Murphy; three brothers-in-law, Bob Caplinger, James Murphy and Bob Leeds; and his four-legged friend, Abby.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Bill's life at a later date. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers.
