Poland - Wilbur N. Gordon, 79, of Poland, died Wednesday morning, April 20, 2011 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Mr. Gordon was born August 10, 1931 in Cove Gap, PA, a son of Lloyd S. and Bessie V. Hull Gordon.
He was a 1950 graduate of Lemaster High School in Mercersburg, PA. Mr. Gordon came to this area to work for Bartlett Tree Company and then started his own business, Gordon Tree Expert Company from 1960 until 2002.
Mr. Gordon was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1951 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict.
He attended New Life Assembly Church in Poland. Mr. Gordon's hobbies included hunting, planting and tending to his annual vegetable garden, and maintaining a well manicured lawn.
He leaves his wife, the former Susan B. Strait, whom he married in 1954 in Hagerstown, MD; his four children, Gus S. Gordon of New Middletown, Rhonda (Danny) Brothers of Austintown, Julie (Daniel) Kautzman of Bonneau, SC, and Dana (Stephen) Deemer of New Middletown; brother, Lloyd D. Gordon of Mercersburg, PA; and five grandchildren, Kari and Timothy Brothers of Austintown and Mark, Brian, and Mathew Kautzman of Bonneau, SC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph D. Gordon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in New Middletown.
Family and friends will be received Saturday from 10:00 am - 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
