Wanda (Chwiei) Payne

Boardman - Wanda Payne, 89, of Boardman, died January 16, 2017 at Masternick Memorial.

Wanda was born January 19, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of Adam and Helen Nieradka Chwiei.

At the age of five, her father passed away and her mother took Wanda and her brother back to Poland. She was in Poland when she made her first communion. Her family later traveled to Brazil to make their home. In 1948 when their mother passed away, Wanda returned to the United States and made her home in Youngstown.

Wanda worked as a server in the cafeteria of Northside Hospital until her marriage to her husband, William R. Payne, on June 8, 1951. He died January 11, 2010. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law Robert Jan (Genevieve) Payne of Youngstown; and one brother, Janek Chwiej of Wilkes Barre, PA.

Wanda enjoyed being a housewife and a mother. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed crafts and her hobby was cleaning.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:30 PM at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.

Friends will be received Thursday from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM at the funeral home.
