Struthers - Wanda R. Hawk, 55, of Struthers, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Hospice House. Wanda was born March 19, 1953 in Salem, a daughter of Robert and Martha (Snyder) Gorby. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1971 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and attended Youngstown State University. Wanda was a member of the Red Hawk Native American Cultural Association and enjoyed making Native American crafts and jewelry. She was also President of the Struthers Manor Council. Wanda attended High Pointe Church. She leaves her mother, Martha Gorby of Austintown; her son, Robert Shafer of Struthers; two grandsons, Alex and Anthony Shafer; and two sisters, Catherine (Gary) Blaurock of Austintown and Bobbie Mae (Kevin) Filer of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gorby and her maternal grandmother, Mildred Lewis. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
