POLAND - Services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home for Wanda A. Davis, 82, formerly of Boardman. She passed away Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Mrs. Davis was born March 7, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of Arthur H.
and Margaret E. Tauber Burns.
Wanda graduated from South High School in June of 1950, and from Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing in 1953. She worked as a registered nurse for 31 years. After retiring, she worked with the special education students in the Boardman Schools for 12 years.
She and her husband, Gene, enjoyed the last 14 winters in Ruskin, Fla. at Manatee RV Park with friends and sunshine. While in Ruskin, they attended the Ruskin United Methodist Church, where Wanda joined the quilting group to make prayer quilts. She was also a member of the Boardman United Methodist Church and its Lydia Circle and United Methodist Women¹s group.
Wanda was a member of Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society, Mahoning Valley Historical Society, and Youngstown Hospital Nurses¹ Alumnae. She and her husband were very active in the Good Sams Camping Club, Carnation Sams Chapter 53.
She loved getting together with family and friends, church activities, painting, crafts, gardening, reading, sewing and playing games with friends.
Her husband, Gene Curtis Davis, whom she married Feb. 5, 1953, at the Indianola United Methodist Church, died Feb. 8, 2014.
Surviving her are her children, Gregory (Sylvia) Davis of Roxbury, Conn., Karen Sue (Todd Dean) of Seattle, Susan (Bill) Kilar of Hubbard, Douglas
(DeLynn) Davis of Charleston, W.Va. and Wendy (Larry) of Tallmadge; seven grandchildren, Renee Suhy of Boardman, Meredith, Ross, and Anna Davis, all of Charleston, and Sean, Cory and Emily Catchpole, all of Tallmadge; and two great-grandsons.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents, was a brother, Charles Arthur Burns.
The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker
Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman.
