Struthers - Vivian D. Leko, 85, of Struthers, died Monday morning, May 18, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Vivian was born April 19, 1930 in Uniontown, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Rubicky Maycher. In 1935 Vivian's family moved to Struthers where she has lived her entire life.
A 1948 graduate of Ursuline High School, Vivian worked at Ohio Water prior to starting her family. Vivian's life was about her family, taking care of her husband, raising her children and grandchildren. She loved her Catholic faith and Slovak heritage and teaching her children and grandchildren the traditions that she valued so much.
Vivian served as an officer for the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Senior Branch 156 and the Junior Branch 66 for over 30 years. She also served as an officer of the Maria E. Grega Okres. Vivian was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church where she was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague, Altar and Rosary Society and was a pirohy worker.
Vivian's husband, Albert Leko, whom she married November 26, 1955 died June 7, 2007. She leaves four sons, Bernie (Anna) Leko of Struthers, Albie (Sue) Leko of Solon, Ron (Karen) Leko of Indianapolis, and Ed (Traci) Leko of Lisbon; one daughter, Theresa (Paul) Sedzmak of Struthers; one brother, F. Bernard (Gail) Maycher of Bloomingdale, OH; nine grandchildren, Jake, Mike, Daniel, Kirsten, Jessica, Max, Zak, Julia, and Adam; and her beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where the First Catholic Slovak Ladies and the Infant Jesus of Prague will pray at 3:45 p.m.
A Prayer Service will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
Vivian's family would like to thank the staff at Sterling House for the care and kindness they showed Vivian this past year. "Save the last dance for Vivian." They would also like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care provided in her last days.
