Viva A. Politte

WARREN - Viva A. Politte, 85, died Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center
in Warren.

Mrs. Politte was born May 14, 1928, in Plumfield, Ill., a daughter of Melvin
and Cora Pinkham Wallace.

A 1946 graduate of West Frankfort High School in Illinois, Mrs. Politte
worked at General Motors in St. Louis, Mo., for 18 years, making springs for
automobile seats in the cushion room. While working at GM in St. Louis, she
got to see the first Corvette roll off the assembly line.

Viva enjoyed spending time on her computer, talking with family and friends
across the country, traveling, and tending to her frog garden. She also
enjoyed photography, which she learned during high school with the yearbook
staff. Lastly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and grand-dog, Graycee.

Her two beloved husbands preceded in her in death, Troy Edgar Swafford, whom
she married March 1, 1946, and who died Jan. 6, 1989, and Charles Robert
Politte, whom she married Jan. 27, 1968, and who died Dec. 13, 1981.

Viva is survived by her two children, Michael Lee Swafford of Pine Island,
Fla., and Chara Lea Politte, with whom she made her home in Warren; and her
adopted daughter, Genevea Chittom (Jason) Anderson of Vienna; four
grandchildren, Kathryn Cora Swafford, Troy Jacob Swafford and Sarah Ann
Fagan all of Pine Island, Fla., and Rhyan Elizabeth Anderson of Vienna;
three great-grandchildren, William James Fagan, Dawson James Fagan and
Benjamin Michael Plumber of Pine Island, Fla.; and four siblings, Rev.
Melvin Lee (Ruth) Wallace of Zeigler, Ill., Verna Mae (Ferris G.) Coffman of
St. Peter, Mo, Vada Sue McClure of Freeman Spur, Ill., and Mark William
Wallace of Illinois.

She also leaves behind her beloved companion of 14 years, John Rosko of
Youngstown, with whom she spent her afternoons visiting friends around town.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Politte was preceded in death
by siblings, Violet Covert, Viola Hargis Triplett, Marvin Wallace, Merle
Wallace, Vivian Wilson, and Victoria Wallace; and her daughter-in-law, Susan
Jean Swafford.

In lieu of calling hours and services, the family requests donations take
the form of contributions in Viva¹s name to St. Joseph Health Center, 667
Eastland Ave. SE, Warren, OH 44484.

The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Escobar and the staff at St.
Joseph for the devotion and care for their mother over the past year.

Arrangements are by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
