Virginia M. Strom

Boardman - Virginia M. Strom, 92, of Boardman, died August 18, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Mrs. Strom was born July 3, 1920 in Youngstown, a daughter of Phipps and Lillian Davis Welch.
She was a 1938 graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown Business College. Mrs.Strom worked as a telephone operator for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was chairman of the altar committee for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Blanket Sewing Group, and the Friendly Visitors at the church. Virginia loved to travel and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George, whom she married Aug. 2, 1947; two sons, David Strom of Boardman and Reed (Karen) Strom of Boardman; two grandchildren, Matthew (Kate) Strom of Chicago and Jessica (Matt) Jones of Orlando; and a great-grandchild, Julia Jones.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ludt Welch.
Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 2:00PM
Friends will be received from 1-1:45PM at the church.
