Virginia Helen (Schialdone) Semko, 88, of Chagrin Falls, formerly of Lowellville, died Wednesday afternoon at Arden Courts in Chagrin Falls.
Virginia was born August 1, 1925 in Lowellville, a daughter of Cosmo and Mary ( Ziccardi) DiCioccio.
Raised in Lowellville, Virginia was a graduate of Lowellville High School and had worked as a secretary to the divisional merchandise manager for Strauss Department Store in Youngstown.
She was a former member of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Virginia loved to travel, was an avid reader and golfer, crossword puzzle queen and Cleveland sports fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Virginia's first husband, Anthony Schialdone, whom she married July 3, 1948 died August 31, 1972. Her second husband, John H. Semko, whom she married June 26, 1976, died August 25, 2002. She leaves her two children, Carole (Steve Conti) Schialdone Mantz of Russell, OH and John (Christine) Schialdone of Lowellville; step-children, Dan Semko, David Semko, Jan Ross, Jill Semko; two sisters, Carmel Marshall of Lakeland, FL., and Mary Kiraly of Lowellville; four grandchildren, Allison (James) Mantz McMeechan, Christopher Mantz, Tony Schialdone and Spiro Schialdone; and two great-grandchildren, James and Harper McMeechan.
Besides her parents and husbands, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Emerick DiCioccio and step-son, Jeff Semko.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
