Virginia Helen Sabo

East Palestine - Virginia Helen Sabo, 89, formerly of Campbell, died Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2014 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine.

Mrs. Sabo was born May 6, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of Earl and Pansy Brown Reese. She moved to the Youngstown area as a child and has been a lifelong resident.

She attended East High School and worked for Dollar Savings & Trust for 28 years, retiring in 1979. Mrs. Sabo was a member of the Silver Dollar Gang and the Campbell Senior Citizens. Virginia enjoyed fishing with her husband, John, especially their fishing trips to Canada, and she always enjoyed eating good food.

Her husband, John M. Sabo, whom she married July 1, 1961, died March 13, 2002. Virginia is survived by her sister, Billie Ann Shaffer of Columbiana; daughter-in-law, Arlene Brand; two grandchildren, Cheri Brand and Chuck Brand; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sabo was preceded in death by her son, Charles D. Brand; and two brothers, Donald and Jim Reese.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the new Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 1-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family suggests that memorial gifts take the form of contributions in Mrs. Sabo's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
