Poland - Virginia R. Romeo, 78, of Poland, died Monday morning, September 8, 2014 at the Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Virginia was born April 7, 1936 in Freeport, NY, a daughter of Anthony and Virginia Alfano Lewocz. She was raised in Freeport and attended Freeport High School.
In the 1960's, Virginia came to Lowellville and later to Poland where she resided most of her life. She worked at Finizio Italian Store in Poland and later Anzevino's Italian Store in Boardman. Virginia loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed gardening all kinds of flowers. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
Virginia leaves her husband, Rocco Romeo, whom she married November 19, 1961; two daughters, Donna (Joseph "JoJo") Cefalde of Houston, TX and Maria (John) Lissi of Youngstown, OH.
Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela Cefalde and sister, May Hodge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, where a Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:15 AM.
The family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, 44514.
