Virginia Rose Centofanti, 87

Struthers: Virginia Rose Centofanti, 87, passed away Sunday evening, July 28, 2019 at Mercy Health at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center with her loving family by her side.

Virginia was born October 30, 1931 in Lowellville, the youngest of 11 children to Lawrence "Larry" and Teresa (Manzi) Carrocce.

She graduated from Struthers High School in1951 and was a lifelong area resident.

Virginia was a devoted homemaker and was bus driver for Villa Marie High School for 17 years before the school closing.

She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, a member of its Altar Rosary Society for over 21 years, where she served as president for several years.

Virginia is survived by three children, Gaetano "Guy" D. Centofanti of Salem; twins, Amelia (Brian) Smith of Hubbard Township, and Arthur Paul (Theresa) Centofanti of Salem, with whom she made her home; three granddaughters, Maria (Kosta) Karatzas and Virginia (John) Brokalakis both of Trinity, FL and Janae (Jake) Amis of Fayetteville, NC; five step-grandchildren, Charity (Rick) Irick of Fort Myers, FL, Dalton Smith of Hermitage, PA, Derrek Smith of Hubbard, Dayne (Miranda) Smith of Girard and Gregory (Nikki Nicodemus) Iker of Amelia, OH; 4 great grandchildren & a great grandson,Vinny Amis on the way; and her beloved dog, BooBoo.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Donald A. Centofanti, whom she married on August 21, 1954, died November 14, 1994, five brothers, Victor, Brunor, Ralph, James and Dominic Carrocce; five sisters, Katherine Ornelis, Mary A. Commisso, Carmel Masterangelo, Lena Grannie, and Anne Balogh.

There will be a prayer service on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland with Deacon John Terranova and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth Street in Struthers with Father Martin Celuch officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayer service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Virginia's caregiver, her daughter-in-law Theresa, for the love, care, and support that she gave to Virginia and the family during this time.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother grandmother and sister. She was dedicated to her faith, church and family and will be deeply missed.
