Violet Agnes Rodgers

Hilliard - Violet Agnes Rodgers of Hilliard, formerly of Boardman and Struthers, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
She was born December 29th in Midway, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Violet Adair Tornich.
Mrs. Rodgers was a 1945 graduate of South High School, and she received her bachelor's degree from Youngstown College in June of 1949. She had taught school at Covington, Jackson, Washington, Stadium Drive and West Boulevard Schools and also at the Fifth Street School in Struthers, retiring in July of 1990 after 35 years of teaching. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the SNPJ Lodge #153 and was a volunteer at Forum Health Northside Medical Center from 1990 to 2005.
Her husband of 36 years Walter E. "Bud" Rodgers whom she married July 7, 1951, died April 10, 1987.
She is survived by a son William J. (Linda) Rodgers of Hilliard, and her three grandchildren who she adored David, Mark and Jill Rodgers.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maryanna Grim.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery
