Violet Elizabeth Collingwood, 96 Struthers- Violet Elizabeth Collingwood, 96, of 374 Maplewood Ave., died Wednesday evening at her residence. Mrs. Collingwood was born July 27, 1908 in Wilkensburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Robert and Ruth Bole Francis. She came to Struthers as a young child and lived here all of her life. She was a 1928 graduate of Struthers High School and received her nursing degree from the Youngstown Hospital Association in 1931. Mrs. Collingwood was a Registered Nurse and was in Private Duty for the Greater Youngstown area for over 50 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Womenâa�a��s Association and a member of the Fireside Sunday School Class. She was past president and 2nd vice president of the Ohio Nurses Association, District #3, past - president of the Poland Extension, and former board member of Planned Parenthood of Mahoning County. Mrs. Collingwood was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter. Her husband Leroy, whom she married December 23, 1933 died February 28, 1992. She leaves one son, Leroy F. Jr., and daughter-in-law, Karen Collingwood, of Boardman; two grandchildren, Lee Collingwood of Boardman and Kalynn Welch of Austintown, and two great-grandchildren, Zane and Seth Welch. Besides her parents and husband one sister, Gladys Francis, one brother, Warren Ferrell and one great grandson, Zachary Welch preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Monday, 11:00 AM at the Struthers Presbyterian Church. Friends may call Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home and Monday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. The Eastern Star will conduct a prayer service Sunday at 3:45 PM at the funeral home.
