Viola S. Runge, 99 Struthers- Viola S. Runge, 99, of Struthers died Saturday afternoon at the Greenbriar Health Care Center. Mrs. Runge was born July 11, 1903, a daughter of the late Ernest and Edla Hultgren Berg. She grew up and attended school in Youngstown and has been a lifelong area resident. She with her husband were the owners and operators of Runge Incorporated formerly Runge & Schoenfelder Company, which they operated as a family business, retiring in 1987 after 68 years, when the business sold to the Cafaro Corporation. Mrs. Runge was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers, where she was in the choir, served as the organist and was part of the Ladies Aid organization. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter, a past, member of both the Struthers Garden Club, and the Youngstown Area Grocers Association Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She leaves a daughter: Erna Burkey and her husband Charles; and a daughter-in-law Grace Runge both of Struthers; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl F. Runge, Sr. whom she married November 30, 1922, and who died January 25, 1982, a son Carl Runge, Jr.; a sister Ruth Runge; and six brothers: William; Robert, Irving, Edward, Fred Berg; and Rudy Seaberg. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the Christ Lutheran Church, Struthers. Friends may call Tuesday, from 4-7 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, and again on Wednesday from10-10:45 AM at the church prior to the service.
