Viola Rose Calabria Massie (Poland)
After living a wonderful life for 89 years Viola Calabria Massie has gone home to be with our Lord, Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2016. Viola blessed many people over the years as she loved everyone with her heart and soul especially her husband, Alex Massie to whom she would celebrate 70 years of marriage to on June 8th. Beside leaving behind her loving husband, she leaves behind two sons, John (Sheila) Massie of Canfield, Joseph (Linda) Massie of Boardman; two daughters, Janet (Steve) Rovnak of Boardman, Diane (Steve) Herdman of Poland;10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viola worked a few years at McKenzie Muffler but mainly focused on being a good housewife to her husband and a caring mother to her children. She loved cooking and sharing food. She also loved Italian music and her rosary. She loved to crochet and do jig-saw puzzles but mostly loved being surrounded by family, friends and neighbors. More importantly, Viola loved Jesus and the Catholic faith and was a devout member of Sacred Heart Church now named St. Angela Merici.
She prayed daily for her infant son, Michael Massie who preceded her in death and also for her deceased parents, Anna and Joseph Calabria. Also for her brothers, Gene, Samuel, Joseph and James Calabria and her deceased sisters, Nellie Calabria Capps, Lucy Calabria Molinero, and Mary Calabria Anzevino.
Viola will be dearly missed by many. Her family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, Ohio. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Angela Merici Parish on Lincoln Park Dr.
