Struthers- Viola Mary Dulovic, 79, of Struthers, died of complications due to a massive stroke at St. Elizabeth Hospital Monday morning.
Viola was born May 16, 1930 in Youngstown, a daughter of Giusseppi and Angela Marie DiGregorio DeVita. She was raised in Smokey Hollow and came to Struthers in 1957.
She was a 1949 graduate of East High School and was a nurse's aid at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and was a butcher for Ciarnello Grocery Store in Smokey Hollow. During World War II she built airplanes at General Fire Proofing.
Viola was a member of the Struthers VFW Auxiliary 7538, the Nurses Auxiliary for St. Elizabeth Hospital where she also was a volunteer for the hospital gift shop, and volunteered for the RSVP on Market Street. She collected thousands of Christmas cards over the year, would hand sign them, and distribute them to the residents of many nursing homes in the area. Viola was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Holy Name Society.
Besides her husband Edward L. whom she married January 24, 1953, she leaves two daughters, Paula Jean (Harry) Meyers of Powell, OH, and Angela (Rich) Wilson of Canfield; four grandchildren, Brad (Lisa) Meyers of Delaware, OH, Scott Meyers of New York City, and Richie and Laura Wilson both of Canfield; and one great-grandson, Gianluca Meyers.
Besides her parents, Viola was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph DeVito and Patrick DeVito; and two sisters, Margaret DeLoreto and Ann Eusanio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard Gaeta officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and Friday from 9:45 a.m. until the time of prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
