Medina- Victor John Woodworth, Jr., 89, of Medina, formerly of Poland and Austintown, died Wednesday evening, November 18, 2009 at Medina Hospital.
Mr. Woodworth was born October 6, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of Victor John and Myrtle Hum Woodworth, Sr.
He was a graduate of South High School. Mr. Woodworth worked as a Distribution Field Manager in the Youngstown Divison of the Engineering Section for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service.
He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Poland Lodge F & AM 766 and a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite, Past Master of the Poland Lodge, and Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 24 district, past commander of St. Johns commentary # 21, past High Priest of Ashler Chapter # 213, past master of Buchner Council of Royal Select Masons, and was past Knight York Cross of honor. He was also a member of the Word of God Christian Fellowship in Canfield.
His wife, the former Mary I. Estes, whom he married February 14, 1943, died July 15, 2009.
He leaves two sons, David (Helen) Woodworth of Warren and Paul Woodworth of Florida; one brother, L. Arthur Woodworth of Zephyr Hills, Florida; six grandchildren, Jacquelyn Woodworth, Julie (Mike) Reese, David Woodworth Jr., Shelly Woodworth, John Woodworth, and Matthew Woodworth; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Reese, Christian Whitaker, and Brandon Woodworth; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Woodworth of Jacksonville, Florida.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Woodworth; granddaughter, Mary Woodworth; and grandson, Michael Woodworth.
A memorial service will be held Friday November 27, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
