Youngstown
- Victor Alfred Amendolea, 85, of Youngstown, died August 6, 2009 at Pembrooke Place.
Mr. Amendolea was born December 16, 1923 in Grove City, Pa., a son of Bruno and Barbara D'Alesandro Amendolea.
A 1941 graduate of South High School, Mr. Amendolea worked as a craneman for Wm. B. Pollock Company for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
During World War II, Mr. Amendolea served in the United States Navy.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the Past Grand Knight for the Youngstown Council 274 and a member of the Fourth Degree Bishop James W. Malone Assembly No. 826 of Youngstown.
His hobbies included chair caning, weaving antique furniture, traveling, playing cards, and he loved puzzles. He was secretary of the Knights of Columbus Bowling League. Mr. Amendolea also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, the former Josephine DeGise, whom he married September 24, 1949; two daughters, Barbara (Herbert) Rickard of Poland and Vicki (Roland) Bundy of Girard; a sister, Rita Spotleson of Centerville; a brother, Robert R. Amendolea of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Algaier, Joel (Erica Monus) Rickard, Ryan (Joy Badiuk) Ross, Megan Ross, Tiffany (Brandon Pounds) Hilston, and Roland Bundy Jr.; and two great grandchildren, Seth Hilston and Aubrey Algaier.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Silvio and Richard Amendolea.
Services will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
