Lowellville - Verna R. Dues, 88, of Lowellville, died Tuesday evening, November 12, 2013, at her residence.
Verna was born May 14, 1925 in Kittanning, PA, a daughter of Harrison and Alice Kennedy Reedy. She was raised in Youngstown and lived in Boardman before residing with her daughter, Nancy in Lowellville, three years ago.
Verna worked as an elevator operator for McKelvey's Department Store. Later she drove for Nickle's Bakery, before working as a pharmacy assistant throughout the area, including Allen's and Lester's Pharmacy.
Verna was very dedicated to raising her family and being a homemaker. She was an avid card player and would play bingo at many church's throughout the area. She also loved to travel the United States and even had the opportunity to visit Germany. Verna loved Nascar and was a fan of Jeff Gordon.
Verna's husband, John R. Dues, whom she married May 7, 1949 died May 14, 2010. She is survived by her son, Jack Dues of Lowellville; four daughters, Nancy (Bob) Fullerman of Lowellville, Barbara (John) Ramps of Allenhurst, GA, Susan Dues of Lowellville, and Janice (Thomas, Jr.) Ziccardi also of Lowellville; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Geri Moore; and her beloved four legged friend, Bubba, her cat.
Besides her parents and husband, Verna was preceded in death by her son, Richard Dues; daughter, Sandy Bailey; four sisters, Helen DiBartholomew, Mildred Jenkins, Garnet Bartlemay, and Willavene Reedy McLaughlin; and one brother, James Reedy.
There are no services or calling hour. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cunningham-Becker Funeral homes in Poland.
