Youngstown-Vera Mae Shifflette, 83, of Youngstown, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Omni Manor Health Care Center.
Mrs. Shifflette was born May 13, 1926 in Mendota, Illinois, a daughter of Edward and Laura Hoelzer Pohl.
She was a graduate of Mendota High School and received her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. Mrs. Shifflette worked as an astrologer.
She leaves her four sons, Carl (Donna) Shifflette of Arlington, Texas, Warren (Linda) Shifflette of Vancouver, Washington, John (Robbin) Shifflette of Melbourne, Florida, and Wesley (Leigh) Shifflette of Casa Grande, Arizona; her daughter, Jacki (Mike) Allen of Georgetown, Texas; sister, Shirley (Mark) Baccus of Melbourne Beach, Florida; sister-in-law Theodora Pohl of Compton, Ill., 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Eugene Pohl.
There will be no calling hours or services. According to her wishes, her ashes will be scattered.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
