Vera M. Mizen

March 18, 1916 — March 28, 2015

Boardman - Vera M. Mizen, 99, died early Saturday morning, March 28, 2015 at the Hospice House in Poland.

Vera was born March 18, 1916 in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Mabel Klingensmith Harris.

Vera graduated from South High School in 1934 and was a homemaker. She joined Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, November 17, 1929 and was a member for 86 years. Vera was an ordained Elder, taught Sunday School for 10 years, and was the Superintendent of Sunday School Class, grades K through 8, for 8 years.

She was a 81 year member of Parkview Rebekah Lodge in Canfield where she was Highest Award Chivarly and Past Noble Grand.

Her husband, Kirker Mizen, whom she married April 4, 1942, preceded her in death on May 15, 2003. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Debbie Mizen of Boardman and Jerald and Nancy Mizen of Cape Coral, FL; one sister, Ruth Buckley of Austintown; five grandchildren, Michelle (Ramon) Kimbrough of Struthers, Melissa Atkinson of Boardman, Michael Riley of New Middletown, Robyn (Matt) Boldt of North Carolina and Gunther (Rebecca) Mizen, Alabama; ten great-grandchildren; one niece, Jeanne (Dale) Mock of FL; and one nephew, Gary (Barb) Buckley of Austintown.

In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Harris Turner.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a Funeral services immediately following at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman. Vera's family would like invite those in attendance for the funeral service to join them for fellowship and refreshments at the Davis-Becker Family Center at 8560 Market Street.

Vera's family would like to give a special thanks to Melissa for keeping your promise to Grandma, St. Elizabeth's Boardman Campus, 5th Floor, Hospice House, Karen from The Commons, and Susan and Bob Steck for their support.
