Bluffton, SC- Velma G. Banks, 91, formerly of Youngstown, died Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her son's home in Bluffton, where she moved in 2016 to be close to family.
Velma was born December 11, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of Lloyd and Viola (Welton) Snyder.
She was a graduate South High and worked at Packard Electric in the harness assembly department, retiring in 1947 after 20 years of service.
Her husband of 71 years, Robert F. Banks, Sr., whom she married October 21, 1944, preceded her in death March 7, 2016. She is survived by her two sons, Robert F. (Kelly) Banks Jr. of Youngstown and Richard L. (Lenore) Banks of Bluffton, SC; daughter-in-law, Jami Banks of Michigan; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dale J. Banks; eight sisters, including her twin Thelma Booth and seven brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where family and friends will be received from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
