Tyrus Walter Frolund

Boardman - Tyrus Walter Frolund, 90, died May 5, 2017 at Shepherd of the Valley.
Mr. Frolund was born October 11, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of Victor and Josephine Poteet Frolund.
He was a 1944 Boardman High School graduate. He then enlisted in the United Sates Navy, where he served during WWII for over a year. Upon returning,
he went to the Berkley School of Music in Boston, where he became certified to teach music. Tyrus taught music briefly in New York City before he returned to college at the University of New Mexico. He finished his career at Belwinn-Mills Publishing Company in New York City where he was a shipper for 30 years.
Tyrus was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local Union #86.
Tyrus was an avid collector of movies and records.
He is survived by one brother, William Frolund of Boardman; and a uncle, Jack Poteet of Boardman.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman from 9:00-9:50AM followed by a brief prayer service.
