THOMAS J. WALKER âa�" 83 STRUTHERS âa�" Thomas J. Walker, 83 of 572 Maplewood Ave., died Saturday evening at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. Mr. Walker was born August 30, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of William R & Amelia Henry Walker. He was a life long area resident. He retired in 1981 after thirty years from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube, where he worked in the car repair shop in the Campbell Works. Mr. Walker was a veteran of the Army where he was a Sergeant during WWII serving in the European Theatre for four years, receiving numerous awards and certificates of appreciation from the City of Antwerp. Mr. Walker was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown where he was on the Evangelistic Committee, an usher, past president of the Marsing Sunday School Class, the Menâa�a��s Club, nominating committee, Youngstown Lodge # 615 F & A.M. where was on the degree team, a 32nd degree Mason of the Youngstown Valley of the Scottish Rite, Aut Morti Grotto, itâa�a��s golf league and the Old Timers, the Poland Masonic Breakfast Club, an avid CBâa�a��r in seventeen CB clubs, past Commander of American Legion Post 158, AARP, Life member of the Union Retirees, VFW Post 3538, an associate life member of the Telephone Pioneers and their golf league. He was an avid golfer and a roller skater known as âa�A"Mr. Lightsâa�A� and was a former member of the Mahoning Valley Polo Club. Mr. Walker was involved with the Youngstown Radio Reading Service for the Blind. His first wife, the former Thelma Jones Walker whom he married September 4, 1948 died February 5, 1956. His second wife the former Betty Louise Jones whom he married August 13, 1960 died January 2, 1999. He leaves a son, Robert Norman Walker of Struthers Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Michael Thomas Walker, two sisters, Gretta Welsh, Eunice Brownlee and one brother William H. Walker. Family and friends may call Thursday from 4-7 at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, where services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM, friends may call Friday from 12:00 âa�" 12:45 pm.
