Thomas Lee Vestal, 67, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday September 25, 2018 at his home.
He was born May 29, 1951 in Youngstown, OH, son of Thomas and June (Bennehoof) Vestal .
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969. Following high school he spent the next two years in the Army Artillery Division Stationed in Hawaii until his honorable discharge. Upon returning home, He began working at the Youngstown Post Office, later transferring to San Diego. Eventually, he returned to the area and retired with 38 years of service. His main position was a letter carrier, but he also worked as a clerk, dispatcher and had also worked in the maintenance department. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at the YMCA in Boardman.
Tommy's passions were shooting pool and watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steeler's. He will be remembered as a friendly and generous guy with a great sense of humor. He had a great love for animals, and will be sadly missed by his cats, Romy and Penny.
Tommy made many friends in his lifetime, and most recently his "coffee buddies" at Dunkin Donuts on market Street.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Leslie Slaven, and a nephew, Justin Slaven.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Meehan (Ken Christoff) of Boardman; his brother, David Tych of Struthers; his nieces, Kelly Meehan, Tiffiani Wisler, Aria Clevenger, and Kara and Kailey Meehan, as well as two nephews, Carl (Leslie) Meehan, and David Tych.
Tommy would want you to smile when you think of him, and do a good deed for someone else.
The family will be remembering Tommy at a "Celebration of Life" on Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Beard Cabin at Boardman Park.
Arrangements are by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
