Thomas Walter Thompson, 61 Youngstown-Thomas Walter Thompson, 61, died Saturday evening at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. He was born on April 24, 1943 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a son of John Frazier Thompson and Audrie L. (Fox) Thompson. He has been a resident of Youngstown for over 28 years. Mr. Thompson was graduate of New Castle High School in 1961 and of the New Castle Business College. He held the position of Service Officer with the Mahoning County Veterans Commission Services. He was awarded with the County Veterans Service Officer of the Year for 2002 (out of 88 counties). He earned a certified and accredited status as a representative advocate for VFW, American Legion, Am Vets, Disabled Am Vets, Ex POWs in the State of Ohio. He was a longtime member and officer of American Legion Post #472, Youngstown. He was a member of the VFW Post #93 ,Youngstown, Amvets Post 44, and Fraternal Order of Eagles #213 ,Youngstown. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the Unites States Army. He is survived by his mother, Audrie L. (Fox) Thompson of Poland, formerly of New Castle; his brother, Don R. (Carolyn) Thompson of Poland; his sister, Jeanne T. (Henry) Rostan of Youngstown; two nephews, Jon Michael Thompson of Poland and Benjamin Edward Rostan of Youngstown; and a niece, Jessica Rae Thompson of Redwood Valley, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Thompson of Poland, formerly of New Castle. Funeral services will be Thursday 2PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home Poland.
