Thomas Paul Reedy, Jr. 2/27/1962- 4/10/2014
Thomas Paul Reedy, Jr. died unexpectedly in Short Hills, NJ. Tom was born on February 27, 1962 on the beautiful island of Cyprus; the son of his beautiful mother Janet and father Tom, Sr. who was serving in the United States Navy. Tom shared a birthday with his Grandfather, Paul, with whom he shared many wonderful memories. Tom grew up in Erie, Pa where he excelled academically and athletically.
Tom was a 1984 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and received his MBA from New York University Stern School of Business in 1995.
At the time of his death, Tom was the Chief Investment Officer for Kemmerer Resources Corp in Chatham, New Jersey. Tom had 22 years experience as portfolio manager at Oppenheimer Fund and five years as Investment Strategist for two N.J. based hedge funds. He dined with Donald Trump, President Bush and was often quoted in the Wall Street Journal. He was very good at his work.
Mr. Reedy was in the World Trade Center when it was bombed in 1993 and also on September 11th, when his quick actions and leadership abilities helped to save many lives. He was a hero!
Tom is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Marjorie Gold Reedy and his two children, Jessica Paige Reedy and Adam Thomas Reedy. Tom enjoyed spending time with his children particularly their family vacations in North Carolina. Jessica and Adam follow in their dad's footstep excelling in academics and athletics. Tom was so very proud of them.
Mr. Reedy is also survived by his parents , Thomas P. Reedy, Sr. and Debra Markovich Reedy of Poland, Ohio, his sister Kelly Elwell (Doug), his nephew Andrew Elwell of Holly Springs, NC, his favorite Aunt Janice Voytko (Bob) of Macedonia, OH, his in-laws Dr. Jack and Maxine Gold of Erie, Pa., brother in law Ronald Gold (Tricia) of Cincinnati, Ohio and nephews Seth and Andrew Gold.
Mr. Reedy was preceded in death by his adoring mother Janet Haas Reedy, beloved grandparents Paul and Mary Gough Reedy and his step-mother Gretchen Paris Reedy.
A private viewing for the immediate family was held on Thursday, April 17 and interment was at Poland Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Julianne D. Smith officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
